Remote Bitlocker
Remote Bitlocker is a utility software that can help you unlock or relock BitLocker encrypted drives remotely or locally. It's designed with client–server model, the server is a console application and the client have a simple graphical user interface. Both client and server application can run under Windows 7 to 10 and Windows Server 2008 to 2019 (with .NET Framework 4.5 installed).

What is BitLocker
BitLocker Drive Encryption is a data protection feature that integrates with the Microsoft Windows operating system and addresses the threats of data theft or exposure from lost, stolen, or inappropriately decommissioned computers.
Typical use cases
Suppose you are IT manager of a company, you have a network shared drive on your office computer or server which enabled BitLocker. Now someone need to access it while you are leaving, tell the unlock password is definitely not an option. So, you can use this software to unlock it remotely, then relock it when it's done.
Features
- The client and server communicate use WebSocket protocol, which similar with standard http protocol. It's easy to configuring firewall and port forwarding rules.
- To ensure security, any data to be transmitted will be encrypted by the AES-256-CBC algorithm using your connection password as Key/IV firstly. Others are unlikely to steal your confidential information.
How to use
New: Android version of the client app.
The Android version of the client app has released on 2020/3/13, it's free and no ads, download it from Google Play now!
Step 1: Start the server from Windows start menu.
The port and password need for client to connect is shown in red circle part. In addition, you need to find your computer's IP address or domain yourself. If the computer doesn't connect to Internet directly, you may need to setup port forwarding on your router.
Step 2: You can make changes through the menu options.
The red circle part is menu of server application. For example, you can press <p> key to change connection password or press <x> key to exit. If you want to use this application locally, refer to <e>. Enumerate, <u>. Unlock and <r>. Relock option. The yellow circle part is drive information enumerated on a demonstration computer.
Step 3: Start the client on remote computer.
Interface of the client is simple, the red circle part is login form and yellow circle part is disabled at startup. After you connect to the server successfully, they will become available to operate.
Step 4: Connect to the server then start using.
After successfully connected, the client received drive information enumerated from server computer automatically, then you can start using through drop-down list and buttons in red circle part. The yellow circle part is demonstration information.
In development
We are developing Android and IOS app for Remote Bitlocker now, a HTML5 web client is also scheduled. Later we plan to add new features such as timed unlock/relock drive, encrypt unprotected drive (lock drive). If you have any good ideas, feel free to contact us.
